MANY EVENTS ARE COMING UP, CHECK HERE FOR UPDATES!
The Annual CAL-ORE Junior Hunt BBQ on Sept. 26, was a great success!! I am honest when I say that I don't think anyone there was disappointed! The food was hot, and there was plenty of it for everyone! Also, every hunter got a bag of gifts from the Lower Klamath WIldlife Refuge and Cal-Ore! The kids got duck calls, a bird Identification book, Cal-Ore water bottles and more. I don't think I have seen so many smiles in one place. They started off the morning with a great hunt!! I heard so many kids say that they got "two specks, a honker, and a mallard!" What great hunting that morning, and I hope they did as well on sunday! We have quite a future of hunters coming along here!!
This year Cal-Ore gave away a Charles Daly 20 Guage shotgun, AND A 22-CALIBER RIFLE, LAY OUT BLINDS, DUCK AND GOOSE CALLS, SHOOTING GAGS, SHOTGUN SHELLS and many other great prizes for the Junior hunters. This year we also promoted Junior Members of Cal-Ore, the White Front Membership. And, at the BBQ, for joining at the junior membership rate they got a free beautiful backpack with the Cal-Ore logo embroidered on it. These are quality backpacks made by Tanglefree and provided by Cal-Ore. Thanks for joining and supporting Cal-Ore and helping to continue to provide quality hunts on the Klamath Basin Refuges!
Anxious hunters waiting to hear their winning number called!
A few of the great young ladies that participated in this years first Jr. Hunt. We hope to see more of you in future hunts!

Check out a couple of our happy junior hunters after a great hunt! We need your names guys! Hope the junior hunt on 11/29 goes as well for you both!!
Great job, both you and your dog! Thanks for coming and having a great time!
This young lady poses for her dad showing her fantastic strap from the morning hunt! Great Job!! She came all the way from Sacramento to participate!
This is one HAPPY WINNER!! Seth Grim won a Charles Daly 20 guage shotgun, and his shotgun broke just that morning while he was out hunting! Talk about a lucky and happy young hunter!!
We really wish to thank all that were involved in the Junior Hunt BBQ, thanks to all the volunteers that helped to provide these young men and women a memorable experience! We had over 120 young hunters ths year, and look forward to even more next year. We especially want to thank the State Line RV Park for providing the place to hold this event, its convient to the refuges and for anyone needing a camping spot during the Junior Hunt. Thank You Stateline RV!!
The Paul Gianera Memorial Shoot, by Don Kirby, President COWWC
Once again the Paul Gianera Memorial Shoot was a huge success! Even the high winds that hit just prior to the event didn't hamper the spirits. The only thing that did that was the poor shooting on most of our parts. On the other side it is always nice when a big event is done and all you hear is positive comments and what fun everyone had.
I want to thank everyone that helped, sponsored stations and donated prizes again this year. Without these individuals and companies this event wouldn't be as successful. A special thanks is needed for Tom Hickman (Mike), and Jim Pincin who do the pre-event part of contacting sponsors, collecting prizes and signing up participants for the event. I would also like to thank the crew who set up on Friday and the individuals who on Saturday were there to save the tents from blowing away. I am afraid if they hadn't been there to tie their pickups to the canopies we would have lost everything. Also thanks to everyone who helped clean up after the dinner. Others of course deserving thanks are Pepper and Bonnie Robinette for preparing and serving the dinner once again and the Pheasants Forever group who run the sporting clays. If I missed someone I am sorry, thanks for the help and support!
An area that is always looked over and not much discussion is where the money goes from this event. I feel it is important to let you know what we have done in the past and what is planned in the future. Last year we bought seed for habitat, sponsored the development of unit 4F by paying for the equipment used to contour and make islands, sponsored two scolarships with Lassen Retrievers, sponsored part of the youth barbeque, and sponsored the youth and ladies guns at the Cal-Ore Waterfowl Dinner. This year we are planning about the same with the addition of helping with improvements in Orem's 3.
